Wing Bank supported Ptea Clara’s annual “250km Along the Mekong” event, aimed at raising funds for shelter, care, and education for vulnerable children in Cambodia.

“We are thankful to Ptea Clara for working on this social cause,” said Bunthe Hor, Deputy CEO of Wing Bank. “Your contribution, regardless of the amount, means a lot to the children in need.”

The event has been scheduled to take place from December 23 to 28, 2024, with participants running and biking from Kratie to Kandal Province.

Sandra Rousseau, Project Coordinator of Ptea Clara expressed gratitude, stating, “We are truly grateful for the contributions from every partner that have made this event possible this year. Their sponsorship plays a vital role in helping us achieve our mission of raising funds and fostering solidarity through sports activities. With their support, we can bring greater attention to our cause, enhance resources, and care for the vulnerable children we support, expand our reach, improve our programs, and create lasting positive impacts on the lives of these children, ensuring a brighter and more secure future.”

Ptea Clara has provided a safe and nurturing home for 150 children in precarious or underprivileged situations. While 60 children has been fostered residents, others live with their families in nearby villages. The NGO is dedicated to creating a secure environment where children can grow, learn, and rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

First launched in December 2020 during the height of the pandemic by Véronique Messina, an ultra-trailer and traveler living in Cambodia, this extraordinary event combines the thrill of long-distance running and cycling with a powerful mission: raising awareness and funds for the NGO Ptea Clara.

Now, as the fifth edition kicks off, the spirit of teamwork, determination, and mutual support remains at its heart. Participants in this noble cause join to run or cycle from Kratie province to Ptea Clara in Kandal province, covering a distance of 250 kilometers along the Mekong River.

The event has attracted around 20 participants who ran or cycled, camped, and lodged in guesthouses along the route, fostering camaraderie and community spirit.

To extend support to the children at Ptea Clara, donations can be made via the Wing Bank App to account number 100777866.
