Wing Bank (Cambodia) Plc continues its dedication to fostering Cambodia’s microfinance sector by supporting the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) for the fourth consecutive year, hosting the 2024 Annual Microfinance Conference in Siem Reap province.

This highly anticipated one-day event drew over 300 participants—including senior executives from member institutions, development partners, and international experts—come together to exchange their insights and explore better ways sort out the challenge of the sector.

The theme for this year’s conference, “Sustainable and Inclusive Microfinance: Current Situation and Future Trends of the Sector,” highlighted the pivotal role that microfinance institutions play in promoting responsible and inclusive growth addressing the evolving needs of communities.

In a series of inspiring discussions, participants examined innovative ways to drive consumer empowerment, strengthen environmental stewardship, and accelerate climate finance initiatives. These critical topics highlight how Cambodia’s microfinance sector can adapt to emerging challenges while continuing to support economic resilience.

Over the course of their 4 years of collaboration, Wing Bank and CMA have been working together on various initiatives—including training programs, workshops, and capacity-building activities—all are designed to enhance the growth of Cambodia’s microfinance sector. Together, we are working to build a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable microfinance sector, creating lasting impact for communities across Cambodia.

This support bolsters the sector’s ability to meet the financial needs of individuals and businesses, especially in underserved areas, creating meaningful opportunities for growth and prosperity.

According to the 2023 report of CMA, the microfinance sector has disbursed USD 5.12 billion in loans to 1.57 million borrowers—55 percent of whom are women—while directly employing over 21,500 staff across 904 offices nationwide. This progress, driving financial inclusion, spotlights the sector’s transformative impact on local communities and the national economy.

Together with CMA, Wing Bank is working toward a vision of a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable microfinance sector, one that fosters lasting change for communities across Cambodia.
