Wing employees volunteer to donate blood on Valentine’s Day in an appeal to encourage the public for blood donations since there has been a tremendous decline in donations due to fear of the pandemic.

As the world is celebrating valentine’s day, Wing has carried out a blood donation campaign among its employees from various business streams including Wing Bank, WingMall, and Wing Money under the theme “Share Your Love, Donate Blood.”

Dr Sok Po, Director of National Blood Transfusion Center, expressed his sincere gratitude to Wing and its employees for their love and care for the community. “Your act is truly a great contribution to the community and builds motivation from the public for more donations.”

“The pandemic of Covid-19 has triggered a dire shortage of blood donation in Cambodia. There is a constant need for a regular supply of blood because it can be stored only for a limited period before use,” said Dr Sok Po.

Blood donations at the National Blood transfusion Centre in Phnom Penh dropped by 11 per cent during the last six months of 2021 due to fear of the pandemic among the public.

Manu Rajan, CEO of Wing Money, has appealed to the public to donate blood to support the community. “Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person, the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life. If you want to unconditionally share your love, donate blood.” he said.

The blood donation took place at Wing’s head office in Phnom Penh following the advice of Samdech Techo about the ‘3 Do’s and 3 Don’ts’, as well as the directive from the Ministry of Health to help contain the pandemic.

“I am thankful to every employee of Wing joining this charity cause—donating their blood today,” said Sheanghai Lao, Chief Human Resources Officer of Wing. “Your contribution means a lot to our community, especially the patients in need of blood urgently.”

Miss Meng Moniserey, Finance officer from Wing Bank, donated her blood at the event. “Please, do not hesitate to donate your blood. It’s a selfless act that can help save people’s lives,” said Moniserey. “I am glad that I can do my part to support the community. If you also want to share your love, donate blood.”

Blood donation not only helps patients in need but also offers health benefits for the donors themselves. Donating blood may help improve cardiovascular health and reduce obesity. After donating blood, the body works to replenish the blood loss. This stimulates the production of new blood cells and in turn, helps maintain good health.
