The workshop highlights growing role of digital banking in tax collection and Cambodia’s push for a digital economy.

Wing Bank (Cambodia) Plc supported a workshop on annual income tax obligations and updates to Cambodia’s taxation laws, as the government advances digital tax collection reforms to strengthen its digital economy.

The event was presided over by H.E. Kong Vibol, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Director General of the General Department of Taxation (GDT), and Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wing Bank and CEO of the Royal Group of Companies.

Jointly organized by the GDT and CCC, the workshop has recently concluded and drew more than 1,100 participants in person, with others attending virtually from central, provincial, and district tax branches nationwide.

In his remarks, H.E. Kong Vibol highlighted the GDT’s efforts to modernize Cambodia’s tax system, including the rollout of an online tax registration and payment platform. The system enables taxpayers to fulfill their obligations remotely by submitting the required documentation and using GDT’s mobile applications.

H.E. Kong Vibol called on businesses, enterprises, and individuals to meet their tax obligations, stating, “Tax revenue is vital for national development, particularly in funding infrastructure and essential public services that benefit all citizens.”

Wing Bank, one of Cambodia’s fastest-growing digital banks, also showcased its latest digital financial products aimed at simplifying banking and supporting the daily financial needs of Cambodians.

“We applaud the General Department of Taxation’s impressive digital transformation under the leadership of His Excellency Kong Vibol,” said Bunthe Hor, Deputy CEO of Wing Bank. “This is a significant step toward strengthening transparency, efficiency, and convenience in tax collection. Wing Bank is proud to support the government’s efforts to modernize tax collection and promote financial inclusion.”

“Our digital banking solutions are designed to make tax payments more convenient, secure, and accessible for everyone, helping Cambodia move closer to its digital economy goals,” he added.

Wing Bank was authorized last year to facilitate tax payments nationwide. The partnership allows taxpayers to settle dues at any Wing Bank branch free of charge, reducing the need for visits to GDT offices and streamlining the process.

Taxpayers can also use GDT’s suite of mobile applications — including the GDT Taxpayer App for Property and Road Tax, the GDT Tax Prefiling App, and the GDT E-Filing App — selecting Wing Bank as their preferred payment option.

Wing Bank remains a long-standing partner of the GDT, supporting initiatives that promote transparency, efficiency, and digital transformation in Cambodia’s tax system.
