Wing Cambodia at 17 Innovation Rooted in Home, Built for Everyone
August 18, 2025What began as a neighborhood money transfer service now moves tens of billions of dollars a year, serves millions through 12,000+ agents—most of them women—and keeps expanding access with award-winning digital products and bold partnerships.
Seventeen years ago, Wing entered everyday Cambodian life with a simple promise: send money easily, safely, and close to home. Launched as Cambodia’s first mobile money business, Wing’s agent-led, phone-first model met people where they lived—markets, villages, factory gates—well before “digital finance” became a buzzword.
Ownership passed into Cambodian hands in 2011, setting the stage for a locally led transformation that leaned hard into agent banking and practical mobile use cases. Today, Wing is a 100% Cambodian-owned commercial bank—Wing Bank (Cambodia) Plc—with nationwide reach and a mission to ensure no Cambodian is left out of the financial system.
From Neighborhood Service to Commercial Bank
Wing’s early success in domestic and international money transfers proved there was a hunger for inclusive, accessible finance. Recognizing this need, Wing evolved into a specialized bank in 2014, and later into a full commercial bank, unlocking the ability to serve a wider array of financial needs.
“Wing was born on Cambodia’s streets and shopfronts—our job has always been to bring banking to people’s lives, not the other way around.” – CEO Dmytro Kolechko
This evolution has been about more than business it’s about closing the gaps in banking services for everyday Cambodians and creating pathways to financial literacy and inclusion.
Built Different: Mobile First, Agent Powered, Women Led
Wing’s inclusive reach rests on its 12,000+ agents nationwide—over 80% of whom are women—creating income opportunities while unlocking financial access for their neighborhoods.
“Our agents are community builders. When a woman opens an agent kiosk, she doesn’t just earn—she connects her entire neighborhood to the economy.” – DCEO Bunthe Hor
By 2024, the network also included 23 banking outlets, 42 ATMs/CRMs, and 80+ Master Agents—proof that digital and physical banking rails can grow hand-in-hand.
Award-Winning Ideas That Close Real Gaps
Wing’s north star is simple: innovative financial services for every Cambodian, backed by literacy and inclusion. That focus has produced products that are winning both global recognition and loyal daily users.

Save-for-a-Goal makes disciplined saving easy (right in the Wing app), while Digital Loans deliver fast, collateral-free credit via mobile. Its intuitive design and instant delivery earned it the 2025 Global Brand Magazine Award for innovation—cementing its role as a flagship of Wing’s insight-driven product development. Both products engineered for everyday realities—seasonal income, emergencies, and the desire to plan ahead.
In 2025, Wing Bank changed the way banking is done yet again with the launch of Free Cash Out. For the first time, customers could withdraw funds from their Wing Bank account at any Wing agent or ATM without paying a single riel in fees—an unprecedented move in Cambodia’s banking industry. By removing one of the last cost barriers to accessing cash, Free Cash Out gave customers even more control over their money, encouraging both digital account usage and financial trust.
“Free Cash Out is about fairness,” says Dmytro Kolechko. “If your money is in the bank, you should be able to get it—anytime, anywhere—without it costing you more to do so.”
Partnerships that bring the world home
Wing’s growth strategy is collaborative: connect Cambodians to more services, more value, and more markets. Over the years, it has forged partnerships with both local and international organizations that open new doors for its customers—whether in finance, commerce, travel, education, or infrastructure. - Wingmall – Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wingmall connected SMEs and communities at a time when movement was restricted. When border disruptions with Thailand affected local trade, Wingmall transformed into a zero-commission platform to help spur economic recovery.
- Wingshop – An expansion of Wingmall into non-food categories, integrated with Taobao to make shopping easier, faster, and more affordable.
- WingAgri and Wingmarket connect farmers and distributors to finance, logistics, and payments—digitizing supply chains while keeping value in the local economy. These ventures embody Wing’s belief that technology and finance, when combined, can drive national progress.
Wing’s Commitment to the Community
At its core, Wing has never lost sight of the communities it serves. Over the years, the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs have touched thousands of lives:
- Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Main sponsorship of the Techo Startup Center Digital Platform Accelerator (Cohort 4 concluded July 2025) and support for Turing Hackathon Cycle 6—championing solutions from fintech literacy games to AI agritech.
- Education & Youth: US$72,807 to fund a STEM Education Program for Girls at Cambodian Children’s Fund’s Tomorrow Academy—delivering mentorship, internships, and classroom support to 138 students (88 girls).

- Health: Annual blood-donation drives with the National Blood Transfusion Center; most recently tied to World Health Day 2025 with a company-wide campaign.
“We measure our success not just in numbers, but in the difference we make in people’s lives,” notes Kolechko.
Seventeen Years On: The Journey Ahead
Seventeen years on, Wing is still doing what it did on day one—meeting Cambodians where they are—but now with the full power of a commercial bank, a women-led agent network, award-winning digital products, and partnerships that open regional doors. The promise remains plain and powerful: innovative financial services for every Cambodian.
From a small neighborhood money transfer service to a commercial bank with a global outlook, Wing Cambodia’s journey is a testament to the power of vision, innovation, and commitment. It is a story of how local heritage and global ambition can work hand-in-hand to create lasting change.
As Wing steps into its 178th year, its promise remains unwavering: to empower every Cambodian with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities they need to thrive.
“We’ve come far, but our journey is just beginning,” says Kolechko. “The future belongs to those who innovate, and Wing will continue to lead the way.”
