Documentary Collection is a trade finance service whereby banks act as intermediaries to facilitate documentation for international payments through the handling of shipping and commercial documents. Goods are released to the buyer only after payment is made (D/P) or a bill of exchange is accepted (D/A), offering a secure and cost-effective solution for both exporters and importers.
This service is governed by internationally recognized rules under URC 522.
Import Bill Collection (D/P or D/A)
The Import Bill Collection enables importers to obtain shipping documents through the bank based on mutually agreed payment terms with the exporter.
- Documents against Payment (D/P):
Shipping documents are released to the importer only after full payment is made at sight. - Documents against Acceptance (D/A):
Shipping documents are released once the importer accepts a time draft (usance bill of exchange), with payment due at a specified future date.
Export Bill Collection (D/P or D/A)
Export Bill Collection assists exporters in collecting payment from overseas buyers while maintaining control over shipping documents.
- Documents against Payment (D/P):
Documents are released to the buyer only upon immediate payment, as agreed between the exporter and importer. - Documents against Acceptance (D/A):
Documents are released once the buyer accepts the draft, with payment to be made at maturity
