Head of Foreign Exchange to lead the foreign exchange function across the organization. This senior leadership role is responsible for formulating FX strategy, overseeing day-to-day operations, managing market and liquidity risk related to FX, developing new FX products and services, and strengthening institutional relationships. The ideal candidate will drive growth in FX revenues, ensure regulatory compliance, and position the institution as a market leader in foreign exchange services.
Job Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Business Development
- Define and execute the institution’s FX strategy aligned with broader treasury and financial objectives.
- Identify market opportunities and lead the development of innovative FX products and services for corporate, retail, and institutional clients.
- Drive FX revenue growth through strategic initiatives, pricing models, and client acquisition strategies.
- FX Operations Oversight
- Oversee the preparation and publication of daily FX rates, ensuring market competitiveness and internal alignment.
- Supervise FX dealing activities with clients and interbank counterparties, ensuring accurate execution and optimal pricing.
- Monitor and manage the institution’s FX positions and exposures to ensure compliance with internal risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Market Intelligence & Risk Management
- Lead the team in conducting real-time market monitoring and analysis of global currency trends, macroeconomic indicators, and geopolitical risks.
- Oversee FX risk management frameworks, ensuring sound hedging strategies and exposure controls.
- Approve and monitor FX limits, liquidity buffers, and stress testing models for FX-related scenarios.
- Client & Counterparty Relationship Management
- Cultivate and manage high-value relationships with interbank dealers, corporate clients, and international partners.
- Represent the institution in FX-related external forums, negotiations, and regulatory consultations.
- Ensure the team delivers responsive, client-centric FX advisory services.
- Governance, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure full adherence to internal policies, audit standards, and regulatory frameworks related to FX activities.
- Report key FX performance indicators, risk metrics, and market insights to senior management and relevant committees.
- Lead internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of FX-related findings or recommendations.
- People & Team Leadership
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing FX team, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and innovation.
- Provide regular training and development to ensure up-to-date market knowledge and regulatory understanding.
- Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and guide career development for team members.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Banking, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in FX trading, structuring, or risk management, including leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of global FX markets, instruments, regulatory frameworks, and market infrastructure.
- Proven track record in delivering FX revenue growth and managing currency exposure.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
- Expertise in FX systems and platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, treasury management systems).
