Wing Bank has waived nearly USD 50,000 in loans for injured soldiers

Wing Bank, together with members of the Royal Group of Companies (RGC) and Khmer Artist Association, has provided critical relief to soldiers and displaced families affected by the ongoing Khmer Thai border conflict in Siem Reap province.

Led by Lok Chumteav Neak Oknha Mao Chamnan, Vice Chairwoman of RGC, and President of the Khmer Artist Association, a team of volunteers delivered essential supplies to 80 soldiers receiving treatment at Siem Reap Referral Hospital and the Hospital of Region Four. The group also visited Chroy Neang Nguon pagoda in Srey Snam District, where 718 families have sought refuge after fleeing their homes due to the conflict.

These displaced families, many of whom escaped with only a few belongings and two-wheel tractors, are now sheltered in tents at a local pagoda, relying on support from the pagoda, local authorities, and philanthropists for their daily needs.

“Today’s visit is not just about delivering donations but also about showing our unwavering support for our fellow Cambodians,” said Lok Chumteav Neak Oknha Mao Chamnan. “We stand with you and will continue to back you.”

Each family received a relief package containing a box of drinking water, instant noodles, 10 kilograms of rice, clothing, and other essential items.

During the relief distribution, several key leaders from the members of the Royal Group of Companies were present, including Mr. Bunthe Hor, Deputy CEO of Wing Bank, Mr. Vattanak Phakdey Chhun, Group Chief Relationship Officer of RGC, and Mr. Sheanghai Lao, Group Chief Human Resources Officer of RGC.

Management and staff from Cellcard, Cambodia Broadcasting Service, Infinity General Insurance, Hotel Cambodiana, Royal Railway Cambodia, and the Khmer Artist Association also actively participated in supporting the donation efforts.

This marks the fourth relief distribution by the RGC. The first wave of aid was delivered on August 2–3 to Wat Kiri Toul Andet, a refugee camp in Preah Vihear Province, supporting over 700 children and their families. The second distribution took place on August 6 at a safety camp in O’Tamen Village, Anlong Veng Commune, Oddar Meanchey Province, followed by a third distribution on August 11 in Ta Mun Sen Chey village, Kork Mun commune, Banteay Ampil District, Oddar Meanchey Province.

The relief efforts are funded through the Foundation for Refugee Assistance, initiated by Neak Oknha Kith Meng and Lok Chumteav Neak Oknha Mao Chamnan, with full support from RGC members and public contributions.

Wing Bank has taken firm action to honor the sacrifice of Cambodian soldiers who served during the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict. In response to the appeal of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN MANET and guidance from the National Bank of Cambodia, the bank has fully waived debts for those martyred or permanently disabled in direct operations, and reduced debts by 75% for injured soldiers—amounting to nearly USD 50,000. Wing Bank is working directly with affected families to ensure fast and respectful resolution.

To mark its 17th anniversary, Wing Bank launched a new initiative: for every new account opened, the bank will donate 200 riels to its Foundation for Refugee Assistance. This fund supports displaced families, brave soldiers protecting Cambodia’s sovereignty, and the families of fallen heroes.
