The Head of Investment is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all investment activities of the commercial bank. This includes developing investment strategies, managing investment portfolios, ensuring regulatory compliance, and achieving growth targets. The role demands a strategic thinker with deep market insight, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive the bank’s investment performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the bank’s investment strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
- Lead the management of investment portfolios, including asset allocation, risk assessment, and performance monitoring.
- Identify new investment opportunities to optimize returns while mitigating risks.
- Monitor market trends, financial markets, and economic indicators to adjust strategies as needed.
- Set investment policies, limits, and guidelines for risk management.
- Underwriting, and other capital market transactions
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing investment team.
- Foster a culture of excellence, compliance, and ethical investing.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and training for the investment team.
- Ensure all investment activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Implement robust risk management frameworks to safeguard the bank’s investment portfolios.
- Liaise with regulators and internal auditors on investment-related matters.
- Provide regular investment reports and recommendations to the Board of Directors and senior management.
- Work closely with other departments, including Corporate, Finance, and Risk Management, to align investment activities with bank-wide objectives.
- Represent the bank at industry events, investment forums, and with external partners.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, or FRM are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in investment management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a commercial bank or financial institution.
- Proven track record of successful investment portfolio management and strategic investment decision-making.
- Strong understanding of local and international financial markets, regulations, and best practices.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficient in investment analysis tools, financial modeling, and portfolio management software.
