Wing Bank Leads the Charge in Digital Literacy and Financial Inclusion with 2 CSR Excellence Awards

February 7, 2025

The 6th AmCham Cambodia CSR Excellence Awards Recognize Wing Bank’s Efforts in Accelerating Digital Access and Empowering Over 5,000 Students with Essential Financial Skills.

Wing Bank (Cambodia) Plc. has added two more prestigious awards to its growing list of accolades at the 6th AmCham Cambodia CSR Excellence Awards. These recognitions further underscore Wing Bank’s unwavering commitment to advancing digital inclusion and financial literacy in Cambodia.

“At Wing Bank, we believe that financial literacy and digital empowerment are the foundations of Cambodia’s economic future,” said Bunthe Hor, Deputy CEO of Wing Bank. “These awards are a testament to our ongoing efforts to equip the next generation with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.”

Digital Inclusion Award: Driving Innovation and Entrepreneurial Growth

Wing Bank was honored with the Digital Inclusion Award for its impactful, multi-year partnership with the Techo Startup Center. Since 2020, Wing Bank has supported a variety of initiatives designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Cambodia, including the Reverse Innovation Program (Cohorts 1 to 4), the Digital SME Accelerator Program, the Digital Platform Accelerator Program (Cohorts 1 and 2), the Turing Hackathon Cycle 6, and the Startup Ecosystem Trip to Vietnam.

Wing Bank’s involvement extends far beyond financial sponsorship, with active participation in the judging panels for these programs, emphasizing its hands-on approach in shaping the nation’s startup ecosystem.

Financial Literacy Award: Empowering Cambodia’s Future with Knowledge

The bank also received the Financial Literacy Award for its partnership with Kot Luy in launching the “Youth & Money” initiative in October 2024. The program aims to provide over 5,000 students from TVET institutions and universities across eight provinces with vital financial knowledge, preparing them for success in an evolving digital economy.

This initiative aligns with Cambodia’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy 2019-2025, which aims to expand access to formal financial services from 59% to 70% by 2025, with a focus on reducing the number of unbanked individuals, particularly women.

Simultaneously, the bank’s digital inclusion efforts support the Cambodian Government’s Digital Skill Development Roadmap 2024-2035, which is designed to develop a tech-savvy workforce capable of driving digital transformation across businesses, government institutions, and communities.

Recognition for Ongoing Commitment to CSR Excellence

Wing Bank’s award wins at the 6th AmCham Cambodia CSR Excellence Awards marks the second consecutive year that Wing Bank has been honored for its outstanding CSR efforts. The bank remains committed to creating lasting positive impact in the communities it serves, focusing on initiatives that promote financial literacy, digital inclusion, and economic empowerment.

Starting 2025 Strong: A Continued Commitment to Excellence

These two prestigious AmCham CSR Excellence Awards comes just weeks after the bank’s remarkable achievement at the 2024 Mastercard Excellence Awards, where it received three outstanding recognitions, giving Wing Bank a good strong start for 2025 and reinforcing its position as a leader in both digital banking and corporate responsibility.

“We are honored by this recognition and remain committed to ensuring that every Cambodian has access to the financial tools and digital skills they need to thrive,” Bunthe Hor added. “We are just getting started, and we look forward to continuing our work to drive positive change and sustainable development across Cambodia.”
