Wing Hosts Innovation Day Introducing New Financial Services That Help Improve Cambodian Businesses

Phnom Penh, June 05, 2019: Wing (Cambodia) Limited Specialised Bank (Wing), Cambodia’s leading mobile banking provider, hosted its annual Wing Innovation Day to showcase its advanced financial services which help promote financial inclusion and grow the businesses in Cambodia.

Held for the first time in Cambodiana Hotel, Wing Innovation Day was attended by over 200 people from government entities, relevant stakeholders, Wing’s partners, and customers. The event also concluded with a panel discussion surrounding the theme “SMEs Goes Digital” where key experts discussed on digitizing Cambodian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for the growth of Cambodian economy.

During the event, Wing also announced the re-launch of its SME products through the partnership with BanhJi, a company providing accounting solutions that are tailored uniquely for Cambodian small businesses. Such partnership means that Wing’s SME customers will get free access to BanhJi accounting system meant for managing their businesses.

Wing Chief Executive Officer, Jojo Malolos, said despite facing its unique challenges in how to manage their finances, SMEs are significant contributors to Cambodia’s economic strength. Therefore, Wing is here to ease this burden so they can focus their attention on growing and expanding their businesses.

“The key to our success is also that we have always done things differently but with the same objective which is to provide all Cambodians with convenient, relevant and accessible financial services. Wing is pleased to announce its partnership with Banhji, an innovative company that shares our values in doing things differently,” said Mr. Malolos.

Sim Chankiriroth, Chief Executive Officer of BanhJi, said the partnership with Wing will open the door to vast and exciting opportunities for thousands of businesses in the country and that Banhji is looking forward to a positive digital transformation in the SMEs environment.

“We hope that the pathway we are building right now will inspire other companies across the country to continue introducing innovative products and services benefiting Cambodia’s SMEs, especially those that are operating at the bottom of the pyramid. This is due to the fact that these thousands of small businesses will play a significant role in setting up the future of Cambodia’s economy,” said Mr. Sim.

Through Wing’s drive toward financial inclusion, in the nearer future, the bank will be working closely with the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft in digitizing the SME license payment for all SME businesses in Cambodia. Such payment expected to be available at over 6,000 Wing agents nation-wide or via Wing account on government’s upcoming SMEs website.
