JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Analysis & Requirements Development
- Work with business stakeholders, product owners, users, developers, architects, and compliance specialists to understand objectives, processes, constraints, and expected outcomes.
- Elicit, analyze, structure, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements from the initial concept through implementation.
- Translate business needs into clear user stories, use cases, process flows, business rules, data requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure that requirements are complete, consistent, feasible, traceable, and understandable to both business and technical teams.
- Analyze current and target-state processes, identify gaps, and propose practical improvements.
- Maintain requirements and related documentation throughout the development lifecycle, including controlled updates and change traceability.
Shift-Left Testing & Quality by Design
- Embed testing and quality considerations into requirements development from the earliest stage of each initiative.
- Review requirements with the mindset of an end user and a tester, challenging unclear assumptions and identifying missing scenarios, edge cases, dependencies, and failure conditions before development starts.
- Define precise and measurable acceptance criteria that can be directly converted into test scenarios and, where appropriate, automated tests.
- Facilitate requirement reviews, refinement sessions, and early walkthroughs with development and QA teams.
- Own risk-based testing by identifying high-risk workflows, critical controls, data sensitivities, and regulatory impacts.
- Define the test strategy, testing standards, test scenario design principles, requirements-to-test traceability, and release-readiness criteria.
- Analyze defects and production issues to identify requirement gaps and improve future analysis standards.
Leadership of Product Quality & Routine Testing
- Establish, implement, and continuously improve structured, state-of-the-art product-testing processes.
- Plan and supervise routine functional, regression, integration, usability, exploratory, and user-journey testing across mobile, web, back-office, and integrated systems.
- Assign testing activities to the Product Quality Analyst, review the quality and completeness of execution, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Ensure that test plans, test cases, test data, execution evidence, defect records, regression packs, and quality reports are complete and maintained consistently.
- Review testing coverage for new functionality, defect fixes, critical existing processes, regulatory requirements, and high-risk integrations.
- Lead defect triage, confirm business impact and severity, clarify expected behaviour, prioritize resolution, and ensure that critical defects are retested and closed appropriately.
- Provide transparent testing and product-quality reporting to project management and relevant stakeholders.
Exploratory Testing & User Perspective
- Embed exploratory testing into the overall testing approach rather than relying only on predefined test cases.
- Guide the Product Quality Analyst in actively exploring the system, investigating unexpected scenarios, challenging assumptions, and thinking like a real user.
- Ensure coverage of negative scenarios, boundary conditions, unusual user behaviour, and combinations of actions that may not be captured in documented requirements.
- Use exploratory findings to improve requirements, acceptance criteria, regression packs, and product design.
Domain & Regulatory Validation
- Ensure that business logic, workflows, calculations, controls, and system behaviour are validated against approved business requirements.
- Coordinate validation of relevant functionality against applicable banking, securities, and capital-markets regulations, based on interpretations confirmed by responsible business, legal, and compliance stakeholders.
- Identify regulatory, operational, conduct, and customer-impact risks arising from incomplete requirements or incorrectly implemented business logic.
- Ensure that appropriate evidence of domain and regulatory validation is retained for critical product journeys and regulated processes.
- Data, Calculation, Integration & API Validation
- Define and supervise database verification, SQL-based data checks, and reconciliation of financial calculations, balances, interest accruals, fees, transaction values, and statuses.
- Ensure data consistency and completeness across mobile, web, API, back-office, database, and external-system layers.
- Define integration-testing coverage and verify that data is transmitted, transformed, processed, and recorded correctly across connected systems.
- Ensure systematic testing of REST APIs using Postman or equivalent tools, including requests, responses, authentication, authorization, validation rules, error handling, and data structures.
- Review positive, negative, boundary, failure, and security-relevant API scenarios and ensure alignment with business rules and downstream outcomes.
- Ensure that reusable API collections, environment configurations, test data, and related documentation are maintained.
AI-Assisted Analysis & Testing
- Use AI-assisted requirements review to identify ambiguity, inconsistency, duplication, missing information, weak acceptance criteria, and unaddressed edge cases.
- Apply AI-assisted test-case generation across positive, negative, boundary, integration, and end-to-end user scenarios.
- Use AI-assisted risk analysis to identify high-risk functionality, critical dependencies, control weaknesses, and areas requiring deeper testing.
- Apply AI-assisted edge-case discovery to identify unexpected combinations of user behaviour, data, system states, and failure conditions.
- Use AI-assisted regression impact analysis to assess which functions, integrations, calculations, and existing test packs may be affected by a proposed change.
- Evaluate and introduce practical AI-enabled improvements to test-data preparation, traceability, defect analysis, and quality reporting while maintaining human review and accountability.
- Ensure that the use of AI complies with information security, confidentiality, data protection, and project governance requirements.
- Define effective prompting practices and validation controls and coach the Product Quality Analyst in their responsible use.
- Supervision of the Product Quality Analyst & QA Expert Consultation
- Set objectives, priorities, assignments, and quality expectations for the Product Quality Analyst and monitor delivery against them.
- Review requirements analysis, test scenarios, test cases, execution evidence, defect reports, reconciliations, and other deliverables prepared by the Product Quality Analyst.
- Develop the Product Quality Analyst’s skills through structured guidance, coaching, feedback, and increasing levels of responsibility.
- Use the outsourced QA expert as a specialist consultant to design and review testing methodology, automation opportunities, controls, templates, and working routines.
- Translate specialist recommendations into practical internal processes and ensure effective knowledge transfer to the Product Quality Analyst and developers.
- Retain accountability for priorities, decisions, delivery oversight, and product-quality reporting.
